Create and take home your own fabulous jewelry out of silver metal clay (999 Silver). Pieces are stamped, carved, molded or cut out by you! You will torch fire the clay, hand polish and patina your designs for a magically professional finish. You can make a pair of earrings and a pendant in this workshop but perhaps more depending on the size you choose. Your instructor is Cindy Verheul.

What makes you connect to a song in a vivid and emotional way? Whether you have a piece of original lyrics or a tune in your head, or just an idea for a title, there are lots of tools and techniques for growing your concept into a sharper and stronger song. Focusing on the lyrical aspects, we will look at the ways prosody, assonance, rhyme, image, metaphor, structure, phrasing and melody are used to create and resolve tension to draw listeners into your story. Raku is an ancient method of firing that creates beautiful effects on ceramic pots by exposing them to fire, smoke, and ash. You will learn to form clay to create a vessel, apply raku glazes and then fire your pot in a wood-fired outdoor kiln. Suitable for beginners or advanced students. This workshop has 2 groups attending 3 sessions each: Making (2 Hrs), Glazing Drop-In (1 Hr), and Firing (1 Hr). Classes are: August 25, 28, 29. Please register for either Group A or Group B. Your instructor is Graham Sheehan.

Participants will learn some of the shape-resist dye techniques called Shibori in Japan, Adire in Africa and Bandhani in India with natural indigo vat. They will also learn some of the history of this dye plant and its importance today. The participants will go home with a beautiful organic cotton mull scarf and knowledge to continue the creative process at home. Your instructor is Yarrow Koontz.

Enjoy a gentle morning forest walk with a master weaver and storyteller and learn to weave a cedar bracelet with naturally dyed fibers. Having learned from his elders, Dave Spiritwolf Bodaly will share the traditional plant names, uses, stories and cultural protocols of his people for plant harvest and use. Dave will bring cedar he has personally harvested and dyed with natural pigment in the traditional way for student use in making a cedar bracelet.

Join jeweler Cheryl Jacobs and learn to create spinner rings. A combination of rings designed in a way that outer rings spin on the inner ring that encircles the finger. They are very fun to make and each student will design something unique. Texture, patina and soldering will be taught, as well as how to size a ring.
